//About

Matt Flynn is a screenwriter, director, and story artist with proven ability to communicate and collaborate with artists and executives in a fast paced, production environment, and is highly skilled in both story development and content creation.

In the world of animation, he has helped to define beloved characters and iconic moments in numerous animated franchises including Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, The Bad Guys, How To Train Your Dragon,  Lego Movie, and Despicable Me.  Past clients have included Illumination, Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros, NBCU, and Dreamworks Animation. He has also served as co-Head of Story on STORKS,  for which he directed the companion marketing materials and short film, "Pigeon Toady's Guide to Baby's [sic]."

In the world of development, Flynn worked on feature films and tv series for Dreamworks, Paramount, Warner Bros, and Cartoon Network - the majority of which were based on original concepts and pitches.

As a screenwriter, Flynn writes genre bending comedies about family, relationships and all of the wonderful idiosyncrasies they create. His scripts have performed well in numerous competitions (Nicholl, BlueCat, Shore Scripts, Screencraft, etc…)

Originally a northeastern Ohioan, Flynn left the blue skies and mild climate of his home state to pursue a career in animation in the dark, dank gloom of southern California. He currently lives in Burbank with his wife and son (and miniature beagle) with whom he pretends to know about parenting and uses big, adult words chimerically out of context.
